Q: I don’t want to file a claim on my Laramie SR22 because it’s coming up for renewal, so what should I do if I get into a small accident–like, say just a few scratches and a dent?

A: Look, I know it feels like you’re on a tight rope when you have Laramie SR22 insurance and you think you just have to stay still so your car insurance company forgets you’re there, but making claims is what car insurance is FOR. Not filing a claim on your Laramie SR22 insurance when you get into an accident is like buying a boat and just trying to build a raft when you get flooded. It doesn’t make any sense.

If you get into an accident, then you need to file a claim. Yeah, the damages might look small, but my cousin looks pretty from far off, too. You never know what you’ll find out the next day when it’s too late. You should especially file a claim on your Laramie SR22 policy if someone else is involved in the accident.

And I’m not saying you don’t have a legitimate concern about your policy not getting renewed because of the claim–you do. So, if you file a claim, you should be prepared. Have some quotes from other insurance companies ready, and if you need to go, go.
