Q: I’m going to get my WY SR22 policy tomorrow. What kind of coverage should I get?

A: Try to get as little as you possibly can. Think of your WY SR22 as a car insurance diet. If you had a lower risk policy, you could glut yourself on medical payment insurance and towing coverage, but now that you have high risk SR22, you need to cut down on the two c’s–except instead of carbs and calories, these letters stand for comprehensive and collision. Here are your basic food groups:

$25,000 per person for bodily injury coverage

$50,000 per accident for bodily injury coverage

$20,000 per accident for property damage coverage

Now, if you’ve got a new car, you may have to take some vitamins to keep your protein and iron and so on up…okay, that metaphor got away from me. The above is what’s REQUIRED for your WY SR22 by Wyoming law. If you have a new car, whether your financing or leasing, your financer/leaser may require collision and comprehensive coverage as part of the contract. If this is the case and you can’t cut them, raise the deductibles.

Q: What am I supposed to do to get cheap Wyoming teen SR22 insurance? How come they charge me so much?!

A: I’ll tell you a story in moving pictures:

That’s why your Wyoming teen SR22 insurance costs more than people who are older’s insurance. Because teenagers are more likely to do crazy stuff like that, and also because they have less experience, so teenagers get in more accidents, file more claims, and so on. It all comes down to the same thing…higher car insurance premiums until you turn 25.

If you work, you can get ahead, though. When I was a teen, I did a bunch of stuff to lower my car insurance premium. I worked hard on my school work, which got me a good student discount. While I was at college, I let my parents hold onto my car and just hitched rides with my friends, and I got another discount for that. Whenever I had free time, I would take driver’s ed or defensive driving classes, and again, I got a discount. I also did a few other things which responsible policy holders should do–I cut my coverage, and raised my deductibles, which didn’t get me a discount, but did lower my rates.

Q: Is it true that Wyoming non owner SR22 is more expensive than other kinds of insurance?

A: Usually. I mean, if you’re insuring a fleet of Jaguars with every kind of coverage known to man, you will probably be paying more for that, but Wyoming non owner SR22 is usually more expensive than owner-operator policies which have the same amount of coverage. Mainly this is because, with an owner-operator policy, the car insurance company can look at the characteristics of the person’s car and use them in rating the policy, but not with non owners. You also run into problems because a bunch of discounts car insurance companies have for you are only if you have a car, like the safety discount and so on.

When you have a Wyoming non owner SR22 policy, you can get some non-car discounts, like when you combine insurance policies on a multi line policy. Or you can just take some responsible steps by paying your premium all at once, taking a few driver’s education classes, doing well in school, and so on.

Q: I have a Jackson Hole SR22 policy, but I’m going to be moving to Georgia soon. Since this is my second time with an SR22 policy, do I need to pay my premium in full according to the law in Georgia?

A: Nope, you don’t. I’m sure all of the Georgia SR22 drivers will be jealous, but your Jackson Hole SR22 requirement entitles you to keep following the laws of Wyoming SR22 insurance, so while you’re in Georgia you can keep on paying your premium month to month.

Since you’re out of state, you will need to find a car insurance company which likes you well enough to send your Jackson Hole SR22 all the way back to the good state of Wyoming, because you can’t file your SR22 certificate in Georgia. Still, although Georgia may seem to want little to do with you and your SR22 mess, when you stop filing your SR22, you’re going to lose your license there just the same.

Your SR22 is the only thing that stays the same when you move, though. Once you’re in Georgia, you have to get the same amount of car insurance which is required there.

Q: My license has been suspended for a few months, and now I’m getting a new job which is farther away, so to get it back I have to get Gillette SR22 insurance, but the companies I’ve talked to so far have denied me. Um, how am I supposed to get insured?

A: I feel you. I remember looking for Gillette SR22 coverage was like trying to sell cable tv service in the 19th century. Nobody needed me. It may feel impossible, but it can be done. People do it all the time. You just have to look in unexpected places. Instead of looking at the car insurance companies you’re familiar with, widen your search. Your best bet is with companies who say they offer high risk insurance. Companies like that may have higher prices, but they are going to give you a longer look and may even let you join the club. If you keep your nose up and try only companies which offer the cheapest prices, then you may lose out. Still try to find a company with a decent quote, but lower your standards if you have to.

Not all Gillette SR22 companies will want to insure you, even the high risk ones, if you have a bad claims and ticket and accident record. You may even have to join the Wyoming assigned risk insurance pool. Again, prices are higher here, but it may be the only way you can go.

Q: I don’t want to file a claim on my Laramie SR22 because it’s coming up for renewal, so what should I do if I get into a small accident–like, say just a few scratches and a dent?

A: Look, I know it feels like you’re on a tight rope when you have Laramie SR22 insurance and you think you just have to stay still so your car insurance company forgets you’re there, but making claims is what car insurance is FOR. Not filing a claim on your Laramie SR22 insurance when you get into an accident is like buying a boat and just trying to build a raft when you get flooded. It doesn’t make any sense.

If you get into an accident, then you need to file a claim. Yeah, the damages might look small, but my cousin looks pretty from far off, too. You never know what you’ll find out the next day when it’s too late. You should especially file a claim on your Laramie SR22 policy if someone else is involved in the accident.

And I’m not saying you don’t have a legitimate concern about your policy not getting renewed because of the claim–you do. So, if you file a claim, you should be prepared. Have some quotes from other insurance companies ready, and if you need to go, go.

Q: What will happen if I pay my Caspar SR22 premium a couple of days late?

A: You’ll be okay. In Wyoming, you get a 30 day grace period for insurance premium payments. Which is to say that if you pay your premium a month after it was due, then anything that happened during that period which would normally be covered under your policy would be covered. Which doesn’t mean you should just go around paying every other month, because eventually you will awaken the beast. Although an insurance company may not cancel your Caspar SR22 insurance policy for consistently paying a couple weeks late, if you do it often enough, they might not renew it when the time comes.

What’s the difference between cancellation and nonrenewal, anyway? Cancellation is a lot more difficult to get hit with, since there are more regulations surrounding it. Normally, in order to get your Caspar SR22 insurance cancelled, you have to not pay within the grace period, have your license suspended or revoked, or your lie or misrepresent yourself.

On the other hand, your company may not renew your Caspar SR22 because you pay late a lot, file a bunch of claims, or have a lot of tickets, among other reasons.

Q: How does Cheyenne SR22 work?

A: Well, first you have to get your license suspended–and that’s not the funnest part. In Wyoming, there are a lot of reasons this can happen. Maybe you went driving drunk, maybe you didn’t insure your car–the list goes on. In the end, though, they all lead to the same thing–Cheyenne SR22 insurance.

Cheyenne SR22 insurance isn’t rocket science, but it can also throw a lot of people out of the loop in the beginning. Basically, it’s just a way for the state to keep track of your financial responsibility. Since you have to be insured for three years after your license is suspended in most cases, the easiest way for your DMV to know you are is by having your car insurance company file an SR22 form. If you lose or cancel your insurance, then they file a different form which cancels it, your license is suspended, and you’re back to square one.

If you don’t want to pay for Cheyenne SR22, then you can avoid it by leaving your license suspended for three years, and then just reinstating it once that period is over.

If your eyes are glazed over from all of that, just let this weird dog and guy who has a lot of time on his hands explain some of it to you. Unless you’re Mel Gibson, apparently:
